SYNOPSIS

          Discoveries and Correlations

  1. Population as a flow of energy in which the successive generations constitute a series of complex energy waves whose frequency period is the average length of life. (Chapters 3, 4, 5, 10)
  2. The function of the social organization, namely, to transform progressively its environing world, raising indefinitely the environment of human life and thereby lengthening the average life span. (Chapter 11)
  3. Identification of the qualitative and creative with the durational element in population energy — the lengthening of the wave, of the average life-span. (Chapters 4, 5, 7, 27, 28)
  4. The basic human techniques: Coercion, Cooperation, Consecration — Citadel, Market and Altar — corresponding with the physio-mechanical, the chemico-nutritional and the psycho-emotional systems of the individual. (Chapter 12)
  5. The social and administrative character of ownership and of property as capital, in contrast with anti-social political expropriation and dissipation of property by taxation. (Chapters 23, 25)

6. The dependence of contract on ownership and thereby of liberty

on property — and the contrariety between contract and coercion,

property and expropriation, ownership and taxation, and of the

political as against the social administration of property and

   services. (Chapters 23, 25)

7. Value and exchange: The contractual functioning of the market

— an existing system of social-ized energy flow — voluntary contributions into the market, democratic distribution within the market for production and out of the market for consumption. (Chapters 9, 21)

8. The basic social pattern: The primitive patriarchal and original

feudal type of organization as the organic prototype of the

ultimately adult contractual and non-coercive free society.

   (Chapters 16, 17)

9.  The social function of the institution of property in land — its

basic public service and its automatic recompense therefor. How

the “unearned increment” is earned. Public administration

without coercion. Sound public finance without taxation.

    (Chapters 11, 18, 19, 22, 23, 25, 26)

10. Discovery that the modern system of ownership and

administration of assembled properties for the use or service

of others through free contract and exchange is competent to

evolve a like administration also of the public community

properties and services through a united real-property

ownership supplying community services at a profit and thus

eliminate bureaucratic insolvency and its necessary

political tyranny — a natural evolution by growth, without

force or substantial opposition, towards the collectivists’

ultimate and ideal dream. (Chapter 26)

  1. Apotheosis of the individual emancipated in society — self-development and continuous self-realization by exercise of his inspirational and artistic, his creative and thereby divine nature throughout increasing length of days. (Chapters 29, 30)
  2. The Inspiration of Beauty as the essentially creative, the spiritual, character and quality of the cosmos — motivation of the esthetic arts and of intellectual adventure, scientific advance and the creative pursuit of ideals. (Chapter 30)
