Penned notes by Heath for a letter to a Mr. Clement.
November 22, 1960
Dear Mr. Clement –
Replying to yours of October 8th and enclosures I must say that clearly you have but little read and even less understood any part of my Citadel, Market and Altar or of the basic principles of physical, biological and social organization and their application that it sets out. I can only say with Hamlet, “There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamed of in your philosophy.” I found it so, after many years without any understanding of the necessary public service to society automatically performed by the institution of private (non-political) property in land. If you are not hopelessly committed to the dogma — the negative dogma — of “no service to society,” you might gain some positive understanding from the booklet, “Society and Its Services” I am enclosing herewith while returning all that you sent me.
