Item 2120
Carbon of letter from Heath to Frank Flick, President, Miller Fluid Power Company, 2040 N. Hawthorne Ave., Melrose Park, Illinois, replying to his order of 25 copies of “Progress & Poverty Reviewed”, and enclosing supplemental material including among the latter three booklets on property in land and real estate administration as community services, and also “The Inspiration of Beauty.”
May 16, 1956
Dear Mr. Flick:
In reply to yours of May 11th, we are sending to you 25 copies of “Progress & Poverty Reviewed” as advertised in Barron’s Weekly and The Freeman Magazine.
You will note that one of these contains supplemental material consisting of adverse comment as published in the English Land & Liberty for December, 1952; also our rejoinder thereto and one or two collateral communications. We regret that we are not able at present to supply this with all the copies of “Progress & Poverty Reviewed.”
We do, however, enclose some purely constructive material in the form of three small booklets on property in land and real-estate administration as community services; also, from the religious angle(non-denominational), we enclose “The Inspiration of Beauty” and “The Trojan Horse of Land Reform” (pro and con). And “Shorter Criticism of the Economic Argument of Henry George.”
You will note that these, except the last two, are wholly constructive, looking to the implementation of Henry George’s high philosophy of freedom by other than political (that is coercive) means by extension of the proprietary and contractual principle in the common and public services precisely as in all private enterprise where it operates so productively and so well. We are including ten each of these additional items with our compliments and without charge.
Kindly let us have your check for $6.25 to cover the 25 booklets as requested.
Thanking you for your order and with best wishes,
Sincerely yours,
SH/m
