Penned letter from Stanwood Cobb, Chevy Chase Country Day School, 17 Grafton Street, Chevy Chase, Maryland
July 27, 1942
Dear Mr. Heath:
Thanks for your good letter. I am back in Chevy Chase for a few weeks and Mrs. Cobb is now up in Maine. Do drop in on me if you come to Washington.
Thanks for your willingness to change date of my check. Mrs. Cobb wrote something about it but not clear as to details. As I understand it, you have on hand my two checks of $100 each — dated Jul 15 and Aug 15, to replace check of $200 dated Jul 15 which you will not deposit. The check of Jul 15 for $100 I presume you have already deposited. The one dated Aug 15, I gather from your letter can wait till that date. If you desire it earlier in August that can be arranged.
With best wishes,
/s/ Stanwood Cobb
I had a splendid talk with a cousin in Dedham, Mass., a thread manufacturer of some success. His perturbation over the economic situation would cause him to be very interested in your book — and I believe there are many business men in like situation. Events have forced them to think somewhat philosophically and intensely on what is wrong with our economic and social life today — but they don’t see a remedy. Neither does my cousin.
