Two penned notes to Heath from E. Paul duPont, Montchanin, Delaware
July 17 and September 16, 1946
Dear Mr. Heath July 17, 1946
Read your letter with interest. Am going on a vacation and trying to get things in shape — will return middle of August and fear that will have to postpone a meeting till after that.
I am Francis’s younger brother — No. 9 of 10 children of whom he was No. 1. Did he ever approach you on his Physiocratic Society? If so you probably know his philosophy, mine is the same. People seem moved more by emotion than truth. I believe the Constitution of the U.S. arose from the fact that they coincided. Could it be brought about again? Why do people give such importance to the Marxian philosophy with its appeal to the emotions while it assails the intellect? I do not actually leave until August, but will come to New York after my vacations. I hope to see you.
Sincerely,
(signed) E. Paul duPont

Dear Mr. Heath September 16, 1946
Do I gather from your letter that the economics — no I should say political economy pointed out by Henry George is acceptable to you? (By the way — last visit to N. Y. I called you but you were out.) If so — there is a brand new start being made to do something along the lines but to get away from the fanaticism, and the stigma that has grown up around the old Single Tax movement. I believe it is an opportunity to steer some people into a constructive program. Write me your comments as I am anxious to get in early and keep the thing within the bounds of good sense.
I await your reply with interest.
Sincerely,
(signed) E. Paul duPont
