Dear Mr. Heath
I expect to mail the book tomorrow and finish it this afternoon (Sunday). It merits closer study than I have been able to give it. I find myself somewhat confused by the English idea of ground rent, land value, etc. and the author’s illustrations of Vancouver and Australia as examples of land value taxation. They were very limited and illustrated that any land value tax stimulates production and up to a certain point increases land values. If there is any benefit left to the land owner (or owners) as the full ground rent is taken or if there is a point above 100 percent where it would not pay to have title to land, such knowledge hasn’t filtered into my mind yet. On the other hand as I told Wilbur /?/ last week, this idea as outlined in the book and as championed by you may be an eye opener to our orthodox encrusted ideas. Anyway, as I think you know, I was so sure that the single tax was scientifically wrong that I attempted to prove it to the George family. My mind is open to your contribution and I will either disprove it to your satisfaction or thank you for opening up a new phase of the subject.
I have been too busy gathering current income, have rented the summer place up to August 1st.
