Carbon copy of letter from Winchester, Virginia to Benjamin W. Burger, 233 Broadway, New York City,
August 16, 1936
Dear Mr. Burger:
I am pleased to acknowledge your letter of the 6th expressing a desire to discuss the contents of my letter of July 22, addressed to Mr. Ralph Borsodi. I expect to be back in New York early in September and will be glad at that time to take the matter up with you. The matters touched upon in this letter are very important for a complete and proper understanding of the single tax and should be looked into and understood by all single taxers who wish to be able to demonstrate unanswerably that all of the rent of land must be devoted to public use — to the maintenance and administration of public services.
Do you think you could get together a half dozen or more persons who would like to go into this matter with me? The discussion should be much more fruitful if we can have a number of contrasting views and objections presented. I suggest that we get together, say, Friday evening September fourth. We can meet at my place, Roerich Museum, in the Library, or perhaps at the Henry George School or some other convenient location.
For your further reference, I am enclosing a copy or two of my letter to Mr. Borsodi.
With best personal regards to yourself and family,
I am,
Very sincerely,
