Extract from letter to Heath at 11 Waverly Place, New York City 3 from J.H. Gipson, President, The Caxton Printers, Ltd., Caldwell, Idaho

July 20, 1954

Dear Mr. Heath:

I am sorry about the delay in acknowledging and thanking you for your nice order of July 6th with remittance of $10.25 enclosed, covering six of our Libertarian books, because while LAND, LABOR AND WEALTH was out of print at the time your letter and order reached us, I was expecting a copy back from a friend who had one on consignment, and I have waited until it got back, and the order has been entered to ship it to you.

We are  sending duplicate invoice F87022 covering the items shipped July 9th, and acknowledgement L-31841 covering LAND, LABOR AND WEALTH which will go out today.

Thank you for the copy of the monograph PROGRESS AND POVERTY REVIEWED. I shall look this over at my earliest convenience. I have never been, I might say, a disciple of Henry George. It seemed to me that any attempt to put his single-tax theories into practical application under existing conditions would inevitably result in the establishment of a totalitarian state.

Of course, I have never been able to keep the promise that I made to my old and good friend, Albert Nock, to read Henry George’s works, so that I am probably talking about something that I don’t know too much about.

At any rate, thanks for the order, for the remittance of $10.25, for the letter, and for the monograph.

I hope I shall hear from you often in the future, and with my very best regards, I remain

Yours truly,

The CAXTON PRINTERS, Ltd.
