May 1, 1960
Dear Mr. McCarthy:
Mrs. Margaret Luker, of 410 Asharoken Blvd., Bay Shore, Long Island, was so happily impressed by your conversation on a Long Island train some time ago that she has asked me to send to you with her compliments the copy of my CITADEL, MARKET AND ALTAR that I am mailing herewith.
This volume is, at the least, unique in that it does not propose any remedy or reform, but discovers in our midst the beginnings of a creative, life-serving alternative to political and bureaucratic corruption and maladministration. I hope you will find it helpful towards deeper understandings and in it grounds for some of the necessarily long-term happy optimism that its author enjoys.
With much admiration for your own public work,
Sincerely yours,
Spencer Heath
